25% of Norwegian company will now use artificial intelligence

A new survey conducted by Norstat on behalf of the IT company Computas shows that every third Norwegian company now believes that AI is important to use, and 25% have actual plans to use the technology within the next 12 month.

- It seems that more people have opened their eyes to the value that practical use of artificial intelligence can provide. Norway has good conditions for success with artificial intelligence, and Norwegian companies have the advantage of a mature infrastructure for digitization. I think the general change in attitude towards digitalisation we have seen in recent months is much of the reason why we are now moving from hype to actual exploitation. It is very gratifying to see considering the enormous potential and innovative power that lies in the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation, says CEO of Computas, Trond Eilertsen.

The same survey shows that approximately every fourth company believes that automation of decisions and work processes has been given a higher priority than before due to the consequences that Covid-19 has led to.

9 out of 10 do not know the content of the national AI strategy

In the beginning of the year, the government presented Norway's national strategy for artificial intelligence. This is barely two months before the corona outbreak came to the country. The strategy will function as a framework for private and public enterprises for the use of KI, and will address, among other things, the ethical aspects. Findings from the Norstat survey show that as many as 9 out of 10 business and organization leaders do not know the content of the strategy, and that more than half of them have not even heard of the strategy.

Eilertsen encourages more leaders to read up on the strategy. You can download and read the strategy in both Norwegian and English in these links.
